According to law? Probably, a situation that is very hard to square with Islamic principles. For sure, recruiters are citing their own restrictions. I've seen age limits of 55 and 60. This doesn't mean older workers can't find jobs; if an employer wants a particular hire, s/he can arrange it, one way or another. It's an old issue, whether older, more experienced, proven workers who statistically take less time off for both holidays and illness than do younger ones, who are not going to need time off for maternity leave or to stay home with a sick child, who seldom have something to prove (because they have already proven it!), and who know the industry inside and out should be forced aside in order to hire better-looking and cheaper but less experienced personnel. Yes, I am in the older age group, but I have always believed this to be true. I was raised in a family and society where experienced workers who have proven themselves through decades of hard work were recognized to be too valuable to discard.
And I apologize for the rant. Job hunting can sometimes get a lady down.
