Hi all, I would like to thanks all of you for sharing your views on different-2 topics which really help all to know more about a specific location or situation.
I am a Project Engineer- Mechanical in Mumbai- India, and recently got an offer from Rabigh refinery. Have few queries regarding the offer and mainly accommodation:
1. I have not been provided accommodation in township. Is there any expat compounds in Rabigh city and can any one suggest good compound in rabigh city with approx budget? 2. Any Idea of apartments in KAEC? 3. How far is Refinery location from City residential area? 3. I am having ~9 years of exp and have been offered E12 grade. what is the typical range of salary for Asian engineers having this much exp?
Any suggestions/comments will help me to makeup my mind.
Thanks in advance. Please help as I am really worried about accommodation part. If any one could suggest the name of some good compounds in city that will really help me.
Regards manu.

You can live in Rabigh city (about 25 minutes from the plant). Lots of asian expats live in Rabigh city and commute to the plant from there.
If they have not given you accomodation, your best option is Rabigh. No compounds in Rabigh, you just need to rent an apartment & furnish it yourself. You get fully furnished apartments too, would cost your approx. 2K SAR per month.
If you want a compound, you need to go to Jeddah (2 hrs from the plant). If you live in jeddah, you will have to commute 2 hrs each way. Something to think about.

Thanks Harry,
I really appreciate your reply. Are you from Rabigh or have been to there? How is the city ?
If you can tell me about KAEC ? I heard that that is also around half an hour drive and that place have better living options.

KAEC is about 45 mins from the plant. Unless the company is offering you KAEC, renting in KAEC is quite expensive. Even for the locals, KAEC rental is quite high.
The city is small with quite a few PR employees living & commuting from Rabigh to work.

Hello/Salam - I am new here. ( We are still in Canada, but my husband is interviewing with PR. ) I, too, would like to know more about Rabigh City. *There is a frustrating shortage of info out there about it. I have heard it is crowded, dirty, and overpriced. I am worried that because of my husband's job, ( mech/relib engineer ), we will HAVE to live close by, and Rabigh seems to be the only option :-< Is there no where closer?
