Possibly moving to Jeddah

Hello all, I am in talks to go and work as a private tutor for a family in Jeddah, I would be supporting the child in an American school, training the home tutor, organising meeting, up dating consultant etc.
I have lived and worked overseas before (US, Argentina, Costa Rica, New Zealand). I get accommodation of my own away from the family home as part of package. This I guess would be discussed more when I am offered the job. I fly out to Dubai in a few weeks to meet the family.
I have been reading different forums over pros and cons of living as a single female, but guess until I know it will happen (will happen quick if it does) I don't know the area other than its in SW Jeddah. The sponsor arranges the apartment with my considerations so I believe.
I haven't really got too many questions yet I'm just preparing with fingers crossed, and scouting out options for if I go. I am generally an active personal and a level qualified personal trainer, so I would be seeking places/activities to be active, I also enjoy painting and attend art groups here at home when I'm free.
Guess at the moment I'm introducing myself and will appreciate any advice, suggestions of things to look into.
Thank you

Hi there,

If the sponsor is going to arrange your accomodation 'with your consent', try and get accomodation into one of the expat compounds. That would be ideal for you (single woman).

Expat compounds are generally quite self sufficient in every sense (social life, making new friends, facilities, weekend activities, etc).

Outside the compound, life is generally a bore. It would take you a while to make new friends & find common interest groups.

You cannot drive, so will always need to be driven around.

Travel often within the region (take frequent breaks outside the kingdom)... sometimes necessary to maintain sanity levels :)

Thanks guys. Are compound houses alike each other? Is there any way to find a picture of one?

Been looking at photos on youtube etc to get a possible expectation of accommadtion, NO idea where I will be in Jeddah or if have the option of compound or not.
I thought I had, Netflix - the online media for programs movies etc, could I still get that there, would there be any restrictions on it due to content of some things and the rules of the kingdom.
Just thinking of maybe tasking a friend to fill a portable hard drive for me if so!

I had decided to contact sponsor asking about what specifically of offered for accommodation and what is practical. Its a little planning ahead but I like planning, that's the most exciting part!
Also I have stated that I would need to be able to access a gym/pool as I need to do physio/strength exercises to manage a chronic health condition and stress!
Fingers crossed to a response soon

Ok So I have found out I will be living off compound in a decent sized apartment with access to the family home and child I would be working with. Also I will be near enough to access Gold Gym facilities to deal with my health issues.

Download PURE VPN onto your ipad and PC. That way u can change your location to UK, USA,whatever. Then join netflix & amazon prime to get quality TV viewing.
These programs can be very difficult to download in KSA, expecially onto an ipad, so do it in your home country. There r no content restrictions once you access netflix or prime.
