I hope you are moving there with your Husband. You can find most everything you need in Saudi. However, why in God name do you want to go to Saudi Arabia. Not a place for women. Be careful.

I have no idea why the previous person said it was no place for a single woman because I am single was there for 8 years and had a blast. Was reluctant to leave. You can get most things in Saudi depending on where you live and what shops you go to. Sometimes it may be difficult to finds things like oxo cubes and some spices. Books are a little hit and miss, especially if you are reading a series. It may be adviseable to invest in an elctronic reader such as Kindle. Also maybe an idea to subscribe to a vpn. Saudi is what you make of it. Socially if you make the effort to go out and meet people and join clubs/societies you will have a great time.

I'd recommend looking for electricity outlets. Your standard outlets should be different than ours here. If you want to be ready for plugging in your electric devices like hair dryer, cell phone.. etc. bring your own adapter.
That's not to say isn't available here. Other than that, make yourself at home and welcome to Saudi Arabia. Further inquiries, please join me at Instagram ( englishized )

Welcome to KSA. I would not ship anything to your new home, as almost everything is available here and cheaper than it takes to ship it. As far a outlet adapter, you will not know what kind of plug you need until you move into your new home and then you will discover lots of places that sell them. If you are in a compound the local shop should carry them. If not many of the stores including Lulu's groceries carries them. Ask your neighbours. It would be a good idea to bring a univeral adaptor. They now come with USB ports so only one is needed until you find some adaptors. If you cannot find them at home all airports now sell them in their shops. If you like to read I would strongly suggest an EReader (kindle or ipad) and download books, magazines, and news from amazon and the news stations. If you want to watch the same shows as your home country download PURE VPN onto your PC & ipad before you move. I am told it is the VPN program that works best here. You can then get into netflix, amazon Prime, etc without getting that anoying message saying they do not broadcast in KSA. Downloading VPN here is tricky but not impossible. Also download the facetime program. While skype is available, the gov't keeps threatening to cut it off and it takes up too much bandwidth. The internet service here is old and Skype can be frustrating to use if your neighbours are on line. Facetime is owned by Apple I believe, so it cannot be cut off by gov't agencies. It is a life saver for those of us who can only survive here with the support of family and friends. As far as household things, make a trip to IKEA when u get here for things like linen (beds are different size than home), towels, utensils, etc. Many grocery stores have a merchandise dept where u can pick up any electronics you need. As far as the safety warnings u have received, yes u have to be careful here. I have been here 4.5 yrs and am still careful but I am beginning to think the USA and Europe are more of a threat these days.

Saudi is very sophisticated these days.

All technology is now here - internet, computers, phone systems etc. Several providers.

Major shopping centers in principal cities (Jiddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Al-Khobar, Dharan etc.). Most international brands represented.

International airports in principal cities. You will be a short flight to UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi.

No alcohol, no pork - respect the culture. There are simple rules for women in public.

You will not be able to drive.

Your employer should give you a MERE (multiple exit re-entry visa).

Welcome!

Saudi is a remarkable country - a benevolent Monarchy.
