Hi all
Can you please advise me further my wife has a heart braking decision to make, possible quite soon. What is the process for exporting cats back to the UK/EU?
She has four cats to take home and a very short period of time approx 3 months is it possible?, or will they need to be destroyed. They have all been (mum and three kittens)chipped vaccinated and tested. My wife believes she can not travel with four cats and the athourities will not allow her? Any advice on this.

Kind Regards
M

While I have not shipped any animals to UK/EU I know they must be up to date with vaccinations and chipped. You can take two cats, in same cage, under your seat when you board the plane. Of course it would have to be on flights where they were permitted. And you would have to have a second person with you to accommodate the other 2 cats.
I know nothing of the paperwork this entails but it can be done. There are agencies that specialize in sending animals home & they do everything but they are very expensive.
I am sure someone on this blog site would have a company contact info they could send you.

It's not too bad to do it yourself, but there are regulations to think about. You can ship 2 cats/large carrier. Airlines have regulations, and the veterinarians at APC (Advanced Pet Clinic) or Elite Vet Clinic are more than happy to help you get the appropriate paperwork done. The cats have to be taken to the Ministry of Agriculture, to do the appropriate paperwork to get the export license & a cursory check by the vet there. Expect to be there for an hour or two & go first thing in the morning (9:00am) as you have to go to several different room to get different rubber stamps on your paperwork. When you book your flights, make sure you book space in cargo for your cats as well. Much better than trying to take them on board with you in small carriers. Book them as "excess luggage".
