Hello, I am looking to move to Scotland with my husband and three year old from Pennsylvania. My husband is a computer programmer and I am hoping an employer will hire him so we can be in the UK within six months. Is this feasable? Any Americans who have moved to Scotland will be useful! I work in IT in Scotland. The market for IT skills here is very low. I would recommend securing employment before leaving the US (this assumes you have the right to work in the UK). The best place to look for jobs in the central belt (Glasgow/Edinburgh) is www.scotsman.com.

Finally, three years on and we're here! It took a lot of paperwork, and a good job willing to go the extra mile for an immigrant from the States. Patience is a virtue. When I began this thread, my daughter was three. She is now six and in Primary II. We're loving Glasgow and the character of the city! Good luck all...
