Planning A Move To Edinburgh from New York- Where to Start?

Hello,

My husband and I are trying to make our dream of moving to Scotland come true but have no idea where to start as far as paper work, visas etc.

We live outside of New York City. I am a photographer and business owner and he is a nuclear engineer studying to become a professor.

We have just returned from Edinburgh where we baptised our 6 month old daughter :) We LOVE Scotland.

Do we need an immigration lawyer? I've read about qualifying for schemes but not sure I understand all the details. Anyone have any advice as to how to get the ball rolling? Our goal is a move within 2 years.

Thanks!

U prob would B best 2 contact an immi lawyer, but U could also contact the Brit Embassy In Washington. Believe it's Observatory Dr>U can google it.I would mention U'r occupations>If U plan on opening a business there may make it easier, as U would not B taking a job away from locals & U may B employing, locals. Don't know if B'ing nuclear eng is a job in demand. The embassy can advise U but will prob tell U, U still need 2 go 2 lawyer.
