We were considering spending two years of our retirement living in Scotland, but the news reports here say there are radical groups rioting in the streets of most cities across Great Britain. We seen a video clip of cars burning and radicals holding signs saying "Kill the queen", so we are a bit concerned about committing ourselves to a two year visit if things are dangerous. Can anyone provide me with information on this matter? Thank you

What that's crazy. That must have been some V old footage. There have been some v peaceful protests marches,10 was about a protest against the BBC, being biased in its reporting. Scotland 4 the most part is quite save. Glasgow's the largest city & like any big city has some not so nice areas but they'r in the minority. The west end's the bes, several areas South side R fine.So where in scotland R U planning 2 go? This's a very exciting year there, lots going on.Just celebrated 700 anni of Bannockbun,+ Military day. Soon 2 start the commonwealth Games. Later the Tattoo.etc

My family and I spent 4 years there and it is a very safe place and beautiful and interesting. We lived in Banchory; just out of Aberdeen and it is a very good base for touring the north and both coasts. We could always walk about at night with no trouble and children were safe. There are several castles to see within a 20 mile radius of Banchory.
