Family Moving To Ayrshire

I am an American married to a Scotsman and have two boys. Most of his family live in the town of Irvine. Do you think my sons will be accepted there? They are 10 and 8 years old. What are the schools like there? When I have met the boys cousins, I have been impressed with these kids and their overall general knowledge.

My answer would be that depends on your boys. They'll be 'different' obviously and kids being kids, some will tease them for that and some will become their friends. How your boys cope and adapt depends on them.

Really, what's your alternative? You're moving and what will be will be. If what you are looking for is reassurance, I see no reason to worry any more than you would if moving across the USA.

Imagine someone from Boston with their accent, moving to California. When they start saying 'my auunt' etc. as Bostonians do, California kids will laugh at them no doubt.

Maybe you could start getting them used to saying, 'petrol, car boot', toe-ma-toe, etc.' ;-)

They'll adapt, kids always do.
