Visa Question

Hullo friends! I'm new to the forum...I hope this is the right website for this question, if not please let me know where I can get more information.

Background - I'm an American citizen (and Australian/NZ if that helps) but currently live and work in the US. However my job is a remote coding job, so anywhere with an internet connection is perfect for the job. The pay is good and I'm saving up to buy a little bit of land with a house or to build a house. My dream forever has been to live in the UK, and after backpacking a few years ago in Scotland, that's where I want to live.

So the question is - with an American job, can I move/buy land in Scotland? I would love to eventually become a citizen, but first things first. I've looked at the different categories of visas, and I'm not sure which one would be best for me, if any. I'm not looking to take any jobs there, just live and work from home.
Thanks a million!

Well information on how to immigrate to the UK is readily available and it applies to you just as it does to anyone else. There is nothing unique in your situation.

That you do not intent to 'take a job' in the UK is meaningless. You will be treated the same as someone who does intend to. That's because, once you have made the move, you COULD take a job. So, that you don't intend to is not a plus in your favour at all, as you seem to think it is, it's irrelevant at best. In fact it might even be a negative in that there is no specific visa that covers remote working in another country.

Depending on when you intend to try and make this move, you may also want to keep an eye on what's happening with the possibility of another Independence Referendum in Scotland. Nicola Sturgeon has just stated that there may be another referendum in 2017.

If Scotland was Independent it would B easier 4 U 2 move there but while under Westminister, immigration rules R tight. Because of all the EU folks & refugees trying 2 move there's 1 of the reasons, Brits voted 2 Britexit. U would B best 2 contact the Brit embassy/the Home Office
