" Hi, My name is Corey. My wife, a native Singaporean, and I plan to move to Singapore within the next 24 months, what tips can you relay to me, as an American. What should I be preparing for right now? Any trends in employment that I should take note of today? Currently, I work for the Arkansas Secretary of State as an Elections Representative. Arlie works in Data promotions and programming. Can we secure resonable employment. What about living accommodations? Excited but nervous. Please share.... Thanks, Corey D. Welch "

" Hi Corey, It would be useful for you to visit the office of Contact Singapore, if there is one in your city -- it assists in providing information on living and settling in Singapore, and acts as a mini-library for Singapore related information such as Singapore papers (the Saturday edition of the Straits Times is a good source for jobs), education, housing, etc. I believe there are several offices in the major US cities. You can also try their web site: www.contactsingapore.org.sg if you can get your employer to subsidize your housing, you are in luck. otherwise, you can either try finding rental accommodation when you get there (tons of real estate agents around) or apply for government housing through the SHIFT program (for foreign workers). feel free to e-mail me if you have further questions --May "
