Hi there! Yes I need advice. My husband and I are planning to live in in Asia. One of our first choices is Singapore. Can anyone tell me if Singapore is the best place to live in Asia? I have heard that Malaysia is good too. I want to work with people with disabilities there. Is it easy to get involved with such people? Any information you could give us on living in general in Asia would be great. Have a nice day... Carolyn

" Hope this helps. Hi Carolyn, the standard of living in Singapore is rather high as compared to Malaysia. However, most Singaporean are able to speak English and Singapore actually need people who are willing to help the disabilities. But, a social worker in Singapore is not being paid well. So you might want to consider to teach in an International School(highly paid!). Singapore is considered to be a cleaner and safer country compared to other South-East Asia countries. The average temperature in Singapore ranges from 27 to 33 degrees celsius and the humidity from 80 to 99%. I hope this info helps. Dean Lee "

" DearCarolyn, Hi there! Yes,Singapore is generally considered one of the best places to work in Asia. I believe it, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia are easier for foreigners to adapt to but it depends, of course on personal preferences. Japan and Taiwan are very homogenous. Would you be looking for paid or unpaid work? Asia is a fantastic place for working with the disabled children ''cos scarce resources would be channelled toward more urgent matters. In Malaysia, there''s great scope for volunteer work. The pay won''t be so great for a pro. All the organizations are on the lookout for people. For example, there is only one home for epileptic children(the Bethany Home in Teluk Intan about 4 hours drive from our capital, Kuala Lumpur) and another for Down''s Syndrome kids in Petaling Jaya, near KL. If you have any further enquiries, feel free to write c/o chelo@chello.at. Good luck! Main "
