" I found the link on information for getting an Employment Pass through the Ministry of Manpower: http://www.gov.sg/mom/fta/ep/ftaep.htm Another helpful site is: http://www.catcha.com.sg/ My husband got his pass through his company, and at the time, he was told that it could take up to 3 months to process. I don''t think that it took that long. When applying for a job, you will need not only your Employment Pass, but, college transcripts, references (like a letter verifying your past employment) and photos. I was considering teaching here because you can teach with a college degree. In this case, I not only needed my college transcripts, but I had to order my high school transcripts and find my SAT scores as well. They are very thorough here. Be prepared to accept less pay if you want to be competitive and sometimes you may be passed up just under the assumption that you are too expensive. Housing is very expensive and so is owning a car. However, you can do without a car because they have a great bus and train (MRT) system and taxis are very inexpensive and easily available for flagging down. Everything you are used to getting at home, you can get here. Food and clothing is extremely inexpensive if you know where to go. It is very safe because no guns are allowed into the country and possessing enough drugs for sale is punishable by death by hanging. Malaysia also has the same policy on drugs, but I don''t know about guns. From my understanding, Hong Kong would be even more expensive to live in and it''s very crowded, but Malaysia is the least expensive. If you have any more questions, you may e-mail me. Good luck! "
