Advice for a newcomer

Hi all,

My husband and I are about to move to Slovenia but I have found it difficult to find real state agencies that offer properties for long term rent outside of the capital. I am looking to live somewhere close to Nova Gorica. Would anybody be able to point me out in the right direction?

I would also like to know how much taxes, social security etc are discounted from the salaries every month, i.e. on a 60K Euro, how much would I actually bring home? How is the health system? And can one get by without speaking a word of Slovenian? I can understand some italian and a bit of Czech (perhaps a word or two would be similar?)

In case it makes any difference regarding taxes or else, we are both European Union Citizens.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you
