I barely survived this taxing process but I hope this info is helpful to gain your temporary residency application with a work permit.

It takes six weeks minimum once all 8 items below are submitted

1) Original FBI and state clearance with with Apostille Stamps no longer than 3 months old in validity
2) Translation of FBI & state clearance by a Slovenian court appointed notary
3) Notarized copy of your passport stating it's a true copy,(Passport has to be valid minimally 12 MONTH beyond the intended duration of stay in Slovenia)
4) Notarized true copy of proof of insurance
5) 3,5 x 4,5 cm biometric passport photo
6) Signed Work Contract
7)Work permit
****************************NUMBER 8*************************************
KICKER*****2 Finger prints given at the embassy of home country)******* if you submit your application while in Slovenia and not in the states be prepared for jump another hurdle to receive authorization for fingerprinted in slovenian consulate in Italy.

GOOD LUCK :) I'm still wondering if it was worth the time and money this process took out of me!

Hello,

I am preparing my documents for this process but for Austria and I keep wondering how this is possible. I mean, you have to have a signed work contract and a lease for a flat, but how can you do this if you only do a 10-day job and flat search trip and then return to your residence to file all the docs and await the outcome, which can take up to 6 months? Which lanlord would offer a lease without knowing when you would actually move in? Same for the language school employer.

How do third country nationals like Americans handle this? I would be wary of moving there, starting to work and moving in only to be told my permit is taking a while longer than the 90-day stay period, forcing me out.

It just doesn't make sense.

Franklin

Appreciate the information. If you're looking for residency and wish to live in Slovenia long term but don't want to work inside the country does the process change at all?

I was thinking of continuing to work in the US but getting a place there...
