" Hi! I''m in Amsterdam, rtight now, but will be emigrating to S.A. in the next few months. If they accept my FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT residency request, that is. So I could do with some local experience, I guess. Thanks for your message! N Peter "

" Margot, How do you like living in South Africa? What part of South Africa are you living? I am planning to go on a Safari this fall and am trying to find some local Safari Groups there. Is there any way you can get some information for me. I have been on the African Safari.com web site and it appears all are booked from California and they are very expensive. I would prefer to give the money to the local people as these are the people that these companies hire when they get there. I am interested in South Africa and for two to three weeks, camping and hotel mix. This way you can see more I think. I hope you find some people to befriend there. I believe there is a group of people from Telcordia in Capetown, they are working on a five year project. Perhaps you can look in the phone book for Telcordia and they can get you in touch with some americans. Also check to see if there is an American Women''s Association there as well as an American Association. Also you need to register with the American Embassy and they keep track of American''s in the Country you are in and if there are some upcoming problems or reasons you need to leave they will contact you and make sure you know about it. Cheers, Denise my email is goltz@lucent.com "

" Hi Rene! My fiancé is a consultant for a health care foundation, he travels all over Africa and the rest of the world setting up and following up health education forums. I am a marketing consultant. I am currently helping some friends get their production company up and running. In the states we played tennis and went on hikes a lot (we lived in Santa Monica, California). I love reading and playing on the computer. My fiancé likes to go out to listen to music (jazz in particular) and we love going out to eat. We have a few friends here but would really like to make some more. We live in Sea Point. Thanks, Margot "

Hi SusieR & Peter,
I have no idea if either of you are in the Cape Town area at present or not but if you are would like some input. I will be comming to CT near the end of Oct 2003 to look for property for a place to retire in ten months. I have been four times on vacation but know that vacationing and living in a place are two different things. Any advice. Roger
