I visited South Africa about five years ago and was absolutely smitten by the place. I would love to retire in Johannesburg or Durban. I am a public health professional with expertise in community healt center development and operations. My particular focus is assuring access to primary health care services for the exceptionallly poor and underserved. My wife is a physician who by the time we are ready to relocate will be certified in cardio-pathology and internal medicine. I am currently working towards a PhD in Public Health and would like to teach at a university or work for a local NGO to increase access to health care to South Africa's poor and needy populations.

Since neither of us know much about employment opportunities, purchasing homes or the cost of living in South Africa for that matter, any help that any of you can provide in these areas would be grearly appreciated.
