Hi all- I currently reside in the U.S. but have fallen in love with Cape Town and was wondering about job opportunities there. I will have completed a Masters in Psychology in a few months and would like to know if there is hope for me in this profession there and if the money is enough to live off of. Thank you-i

Hi there, we have just re-located to the Cape from Durban, Kwa- Zulu Natal and my wife is in the teaching profession and many times she has said to me that it is a pity she never completed her phsychlogy degree as there seems to be many reasonable paying Jobs in the cape area. Working for the state/government you may never get wealthy ,but I do believe you would live very comfortably. Rental for good accommodation a half an hours drive from the city centre is good. Good luck.

Thank you for your response! I don't feel as discouraged now. I will keep at it and see where it gets me. Do you know how to go about getting a job at a University and if it pays well?

Sorry can't help you with info on career at a university, I suggest you go on the website of the University of the Western Cape or Rhodes University. Try the classified section of the Argus Newspaper or the Cape Times. Good luck.

You can try UCT (university of cape town) and try their psych department, literally just drive up there and have a chat - really great ppl :) I used to study there and did psych.
Yes on Thurs the Argus is one of the best options. Also just search sites like: http://www.careerjet.co.za/wsearch/jobs?l=Cape+Town&lid=221794
