Hello, I was born in the UK and my parents went to SA when I was 2, I have since returned to UK and have been here 10 years, but was considering going back to SA, with my British husband and daughter, do you know what I have to do legally. I still have a SA id book, but hold a UK passport?

Hello Amanda Jane,

The citizenship question that asked is quite complicated. If you were a SA citizen when you left SA and did not give up your SA citizenship or take up another cituzenship by naturalization, you should still be able to apply for a SA passport. If you were only a permanent resident in SA you will have probably lost your status by being out of SA as long as you have been.

Determing your status is key in allowing for an easier relocation to SA for your family.

There is a lot to go over so if you would like me to contact me to discuss further then please email me at bjorn@intergate-immigration.com. There is no charge involved for the advice.
