Hi, now spending most of the year in RSA and would appreciate any advice on driver licences. Recently obtained Perm Residency and was wondering if anyone having done so has infomration about changing a UK licence for an RSA one. Really would appreciate and assistance. Thank you

Hi - apologies for not responding sooner. Just picked up your query.
There is no need to exchange your UK licence fir a South African one. If you are registering, financing or insuring a car though you will need an International Driving Permit (best obtainable from the AA in UK before you leave). This can be obtained from teh South African AA, but it ius a time consuming process as thye have to (snail) mail the details of your licence back to UK, and then await a reply.
