Hi there, Well I don’t want to disappoint you, but I think you should know you just cannot “walk” into SA based on a non relative supporting you. If your boyfriend and you decided to split, then you would be on the next plane out even if this type of non permanent relationship permit existed. Here are your options:- Relatives Permanent Residence Permit South Africa: if you’re a biological relative of a South African citizen or a foreigner with a South African permanent residence permit, then you qualify to apply for this type of permit. Children who are legally adopted also qualify. ( Probably your best bet to wait for your mother to obtain hers )
Spousal/Life Partner Permanent Residence Permit South Africa: if you’re married to or in a permanent relationship with a South African citizen or a foreigner with a South African permanent residence permit, then you qualify to apply for this permit. This category applies to both same-sex couples and those in heterosexual relationships. If applying for a permit in this category, it’s necessary to prove that you’ve been married or cohabitating for a minimum of five years. ( You have no proof )
Critical Skills Permanent Residence Permit South Africa: if you already hold a critical skills temporary work visa, can prove you have five years of experience in your field and have a permanent job offer in South Africa, you can apply for this type of permit.
So your best bet will be to wait for your mother, failing which contact your nearest SA Embassy or Consul and ask them to give you the latest “Critical skills” list to check whether your profession is in this category. You will then need to contact the big hospital groups such as NETCARE and MEDICLINIC which you can Google and make contact with your CV.
Whichever way you apply, SA Government Departments are notoriously slow and I can’t see you going anywhere for at least 6 months. Expect no end of frustrations along the way.
In closing, quite frankly people are starting to get out of this Country as the infrastructure that was World Class is falling apart thanks to 20 years of corruption and neglect by the ANC. Why do you think there are “Critical Skills” shortages ?........because these people have all left the Country for UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada to name a few thanks to this and “Reverse discrimination” that is practised in the workplace.
Regards
