Hi folks! I am married to a South African and am considering relocating there. I have spent a significant amount of time in SA on holiday, but would like some perspective from expats living there. I want to know if people like it compared to visiting. Do you find the money to hinder your ability to travel back to the US? Have you experienced a major increase in crime? Just some information about your experience would be so helpful! Cheers!

Hi,
My wife and I are US citizens who retired to a Cape Town suburb over 11 years ago. We are extremely happy and are permanent residents. We don't travel back to the US very often since there are many other places to explore. (We got together with our son and his family in Europe last month.) We have had no significant issues of crime.
