Has anyone heard of SAMI international, a Cape Town based firm that will issue a visa? They will issue me a visitor visa if I send in all the supporting documents plus a fee of R2500. I was also told that I had to go to my local SA Embassy in Los Angeles,CA (3 hour drive) to get a visa, as you only can get one in person. Anyone have some info about this?

Hello, Mokkijo - Stay away from SAMI -- it's a scam. If you have an American passport and stay less than 90 days, you don't need a visa. [I'm an American who has lived in Cape Town for 12 years.]

I thought SAMI was kind of shady. I do understand the 90 days, but I may extend my stay beyond that.

Hello - I would suggest Intaglio as a reliable, honest company which I have dealt with for years on visa issues. You can reach them at http://intaglio.co.za/contact-us/ Francois is the person to talk with. He is working on a problem for me right now.
