LA MARINA LIFE.....

AREA INFO
La Marina is a coastal urbanisation on the Costa Blanca with a population of approximately 3,200 people. It is located between Santa Pola and Alicante to the north and Guardamar and Torrevieja to the south (La Marina stretches some 17 kilometres from Santa Pola to Torrevieja). La Marina is approximately 30 minutes drive from Alicante El Altet airport.
La Marina urbanisation was built around the 1980's and has an eclectic mix of races from all over Europe who come together and show community spirit through the numerous fiestas and celebrations that take part each year. This is turn offers a great infrastructure for family life due to the support from the expat community thriving there. La Marina is very well catered for and features a range of shops, restaurants, bars, banks etc. and has regular bus and public coach services north & south along the coast.
SPORTS
Aside from beach activities La Marina offers endless sports and leisure activities including horse riding, bike riding, sailing, yachting, diving and fishing.
La Marina and its surrounding area offers varied sport and leisure activities. You can rent bicycles, play mini-golf, take a diving course, walk across the dunes or salt-flats areas or just enjoy the local countryside and natural environment. Horse riding excursions, quad hire and balloon flights are also to hand.
There are 2 markets that take place in La Marina. One market is on each Thursday and the other is on every Saturday. 'The Mercadillo' in nearby Santa Pola is very popular and takes place on a Saturday. These markets offers local fruit and vegetables, craft work, clothes, leather articles and of course a wide variety of culinary delights.
CLIMATE
The Costa Blanca enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with cool sea breezes in summer and protection by surrounding mountains against the cold North winds in winter. The average temperature normally exceeds 20 degrees.
The World Health Organisation recommends that the climate of the area is one of the most equitable in the world, so, anyone with health issues can be reassured that with this consistent & attractive weather they will be very comfortable in this environment.
