I am thinking about leaving the UK for a year to work in SL (IT specialist role).
Questions are how easy is it to get a visa and what kind of salary could you survive on. I.e. 70k RS?
Thank you

Getting a work permit will be quite tough as there are many higly qualified sri lankans in IT field.

HI Edga,
Thanks for the reply.
Do you mean once you have a job impressing immigration can be hard?

Hello,
If you have a Job and apply Immifration will never give you a working visa and they will deport you.
Even if someone wants to employ you, with out a visa ,I won't advise you to to work without a Working Visa as Immigration is aware of this kind of thing and once they get to know , they will put you in the camp and deport you. It happened to a foreigner whom I got to know.
Different people in forums may say various things but this is the real situation.
Cheers

Hi edga,
I would like the follow the rules.
It seems from the UK embassy you need to apply to Immigration and then to UK embassy. Then maybe fly there to get stamp.
Confusing!
From your experience how do you apply officially from outside of SL?
Many thanks

You need first to find an employer who will do the paperwork for you. For me it went smoothly.

Hi awalgier.
I spoke to someone at the UK embassy yesterday and roughly said: find a job, company applies, you apply to UK and then on arrival or after you get upgraded.
Thank you
