" Hello everyone :-) My name is Tamer Kattan and I have been visiting friends in Sweden for the last 5 years. I have truly fallen in love with the country, the traditions and most of all the people (no, I''m not refering to just the girls!) I''m a 29 year old Marketing professional who has become semi-fluent in Swedish and feel very strongly that I could grab a firm grasp upon relocation. I''ve thought long and hard about this (4 years). and I know that going to Sweden is the right thing for me. My parents moved to the united states when i was 8 years of age. California has become their Utopia. I believe Sweden to be mine. Any help that anyone can provide, in the form of advice or resources would be greatly appreciated. Do I have an advantage because I can speak Swedish? Will the EU prohibit my chances? Am I being realistic? Thanks so much for your time, hejda, Tamer "

" Tamer, I am of a very similar feelings to yourself. I would love to move their too. I am British and have a number of Job agency contacts etc, especially in Stockholm should you require them. I guess the easiest way is if you write to my hotmail address: shearer11@hotmail.com and I can forward you the information that I have gathered. I plan to move there in Spring 2000 though have not secured employment yet. speaking Swedish is a maasive benefit and I am finding it hard as I only speak a little, though am learning. Best Regards, AK "

" Hi Tamer, Welcome to the Swedish discussion group. I''m glad that you have found us. I hope that we can help you. Yes. The fact that you speak some Swedish will be a big help in both getting a job and settling. I suggest that you really sell your Swedish skills when applying for a job. Also the fact that you have been visiting Sweden so that you know Swedes. Even my none marketing background tells me that you sell to Swedes differently than say an American. The EU should not prohibit your chances of moving over here. If you come from an EU country, it will be just a case of finding a job or proving that you can support yourself. For non EU citizens, it is harder, but not impossible. And the final yes is for being realistic. It sounds as though you have thought this through very carefully. There are plenty of expats in Sweden that prove that a dream of moving to Sweden can become a reality. I wish you all the luck in finding a job and the move over here. Do keep in touch and let us know what happens. Take care Julie "
