" Hi! My name is Marcus and I am planning to move to Gothenburg soon. I live in Brighton, England at the moment but have spent the last 6 months living in Gothenburg. Unfortunately I could not find a decent job in Sweden and now find that I am spending all my time looking for things via the net. My Swedish is fairly limited, although I am studying in my own time. Can anyone help me with my goals? I just want to be with my beautiful girlfriend! Also is it possible to get financial assistance from anywhere in order to study Swedish in Gothenburg? I hope this rings some bells with somebody! "

" Hi Marcus, Great that you have found this site. Lets tackle the Swedish issue. To get a job in this country you will need to know the language, unless you are in the IT/technology fields. The cheapest way to learn is to take SFI, its free! You can take either evening classes a couple of times a week, or day time classes four days a week. I have heard myths about getting money (very little) whilst studying SFI Swedish. But I believe it will only apply in a very small number of cases. There are also adult education classes available which are generally faster (and have a better reputation). For more info check out http://www.ifg.f2s.com surf to living in Sweden, learning Swedish. I have put alot more details there. My tip for job hunting is to hit the yellow pages. Find companies that you are interested in, and call them. Alot of jobs go to people who have & cold called when a job comes up. Have you also checked out the unemployment office searchable database? http://www.ams.se Good luck with the job search. Julie "
