" Hi all, I am a guy from Singapore and I''ve just arrived in Switzerland for 2 weeks and I am feeling very lonely as I don''t know anyone in the city of Zurich. I have to live here for 2 years at least and I hope I can find some friends who I can talk to and go out with here in Zurich..... "

" Hi Andrew, Ein herzliches Willkommen! A good place to start is E-BN (e-business Nomads), a social group in Zurich for expats from all over (and Swiss folks too, of course). They have get togethers every Thursday night at various bars in and around the Zurich area, and many other activities as well. The group is very friendly, very open. As the name implies, most folks there know well what it feels like to land in a new country and to have to re-establish oneself. See the web site for more information, and to get on the mailing list. Membership is free. www.e-businessnomads.com Initial culture shock aside, you will find that Zurich is really a very friendly place. Best of luck to you. E Dawson "

Hello Andrew First of all Welcome to Switzerland! It is always difficult at the beginning - but at least you arrived in the middle of summer and can enjoy the long evening and plenty of lovely warm sunshine. Zürich is a great city and there is loads to do there. You could have a look at joining the International Men''s club or the comedy Club (a theatre group full of expats and English speaking Swiss) - that would give you a start. Which compnay do you work for? Do they have a social club or group to help you get started? There is a great expat Hotline (based in Zug but covering all of Central Switzerland) which you can call any week day 9am - 5pm and they will give you loads of info - and they are also very friendly if you just want to chat! The number is 0901 555 056 and the company is Le Concierge. Otherwise what about a walking group to get you out and about in the Swiss Mountains? Or mountain biking? I am sure you will soon settle in over here - but I''d give Le concierge a ring and ask them for some ideas. Take care and very best wishes Nicola

Hi Andrew! I am a Singaporean who may be going to Zurich soon. Interested to find out from you how have you been since the last posting; have you found things to do and how about the "food" factor?
Hope to hear from you.
