" Has anyone found a place in the Berner Oberland Region (Interlaken-Thun-Spiez-Bern) where one can find a store that stocks some american groceries. In particular Saltine Crackers, BBQ sauce, Miracle Whip, etc. Just can''t find a suitable substitute. Thanks for any help. Vaughn "

Hopefully you''ll get a reply. I''ll be relocating to Zug (near Zurich) in a few weeks and would love to be reassured that I can find Triscuits and Crystal Lite!

" Actually I found a firm called ''Le Concierge'' that specializes in finding all kinds of things. She''s currently looking for my ''unique'' things. She mentioned Globus market in Zurich near the Bahnhofstrasse, in the basement is a gourmet section with all kinds of american food. She''s also researching/finding other stores closer to where I live. If you want to contact her, the number is 0901.555.056. She makes money off of the 0901 call. It''s like the 900 numbers in the states. I also think she is in Zug. BTW I have 3 containers of peach crystal light I brought with me from California that I will sell to you for $10,000,000. " There are several places to buy American products...at least in the Zug/Zurich area. Globus Deli has a selection, Jelmoli in Zurich also. Surprisingly, the English Store (UK Food products) have a ton of things. Most of these stores carry almost the same selection. I have never heard of anyone finding Crystal Lite and Miracle Whip however. Gran Pavesi is a brand of cracker that is almost exactly like Saltines. They come in salted and unsalted (in Italy, they have Olive oil and Rosemary...Yum!) and can be found in Migros. Good luck! "

" Thanks Jan. I''m in the middle of Switzerland (Interlaken) and we have a Migros so I''ll check there. Thanks. Any places near Interlaken/Bern you can think of? Never seen the ''English Store''. Are they near Interlaken/Bern/Thun/Spiez? or maybe they have a web site I can check addresses--do you have a URL? Thanks, Vaughn "

" Hi Vaughn, Take a look at the LeShop website - www.leshop.ch - it is an online grocery store which stocks some American products, as well as a wide variety of other local and international items. Prices are pretty consistent with the other grocery stores, delivery charge is CH9 per order regardless of the number of items ordered. They deliver pretty much everywhere, order by 10AM and your order is delivered the same day, next day if you order later. It is my favorite of the online grocery stores. Migros (www.migros-shop.ch) and Coop (www.coop.ch) also have online ordering services. Tschüss, E Dawson "

" Thanks so much edawson, you may have just saved my life :-) And even if I don''t see an american product it looks like they have a great selection and at good prices. I live in Wengen and all we have here is a very small COOP and if we want anything with any variety we have to go into Interlaken. So thanks again so much--it is greatly appreciated. Vaughn "

I've had good experience ordering from Taste of America (www.tasteofamerica.ch) The list of American foods is somewhat small, but pretty well covers what you might be missing (chocolate chips, spray oil, Bisquick).
