Areas of Zurich

Hi

I am relocating to Zurich with my partner and our 13mth old baby. Can anyone suggest any areas of Zurich to start flat hunting in?

Ideally want to be reasonably close to Central Zurich and in an ideal world we'd have a flat with a garden. Is that feasible close to town?

We currently live in North London and would intend to rent a property in Zurich.

Would greatly appreciate anyone's thoughts and would be very grateful for any suggestions/websites etc.

Many thanks in advance
Jules

Hi there,
Try looking in Uster. The S5 train links Uster to Zurich city in 10 minutes (only 1 stop) so you can get to the city quickly but can live outside of the city in the Uster area, where you have Greifensee (lovely lake with cycle path all around it) and nearby is Pfaffikon lake which is also beautiful. Also in Uster, there is an English-speaking club which is very family oriented - moms n tots playgroups, English library, English pre-school. For more help, you can e-mail me at tracey.shaw@dplanet.ch

Everything is possible if you have the money for it...

You can look up flats on http://www.homegate.ch (in English!).

Zurich & environs have excellent public transport - so you don't have to stick to the center. If you know where you are going to work, looking up the relevant local train lines (S Bahn) would be a good idea.

English is not so widley spoken here, so make sure you have the rental contract read by an objective german speaker.
