Hi, I am a Canadian relocating to Zurich this summer with a family of 5. My wife and I speak both French and English but the kids (3, 5 and 7) are speaking French only for now. I wonder whether we should put the kids to the public school for a better integration but with them struggling with the German language or take advantage of an English International School where they would learn to speak English and probably German as well. The problem: I didn't find any International School under CHF 20'000 a year which is unaffordable for a family with 3 kids. Please help someone!!!!!

I have a bunch of links in my files that might be helpful to you, also I can put you in touch with a group of us who have kids in Swiss schools and are Expats. Also, my husband is a teacher at the Zurich International School.

Hi,
I think I am facing the same problem. I am also relocating to Zurich and have a 4-yr-old daughter. I don´t want to enroll her on a public school but will not pay CHF2,000/mo either. I am told there are some bi-langual schools in the Zurich area that are not so expensive. Plus, I think that as an expat we would be able to have that cost as a deduction in the income tax calculation (in fact, this is something no one seems to be able to explain to me). Good luck,
Eugenio

Contact Swiss International School - Zurich North. They are very friendly and have small class settings. Explain them your personal situation. You never know. This is the only international School whih does not have a capital and a registration fee. (info@international-school.ch)
In the public school you problably will be lost!
