I am an American who is married to a German. Currently, my wife is working in CH, but she is about 80 Km south of Bern. The town she is currently working has population of 2000 and there is no chance to find any IT realted jobs. The next big towns are Zweisimmen and Thun, but not sure if there is a chance for non-German speaking person to find IT related job. Either way, I am moving over there end of this year to be with my wife. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

From my experience (in Geneva currently) it is extremely difficult for non-Swiss; non-EU citizens to obtain employment without a company recruiting them. Like in the States, they have to advertise for the job thoroughly and proving that there is no Swiss citizen who can or is willing to do the job. On top of that, if you do not work or study in Switzerland you have to be out of the country within (I forget the actually number but I believe) 180 days.... Not sure of your age, but if you're young, you can try an "apprenticeship"; many students find their way to Switzerland to get experience which at times leads to a contract position. Hope that helps a bit. As for languages. If English is the only language you speak, you're outnumbered by those who speak at least two. Most speak three. However, the upside, most business is conducted in English (surprisingly, even at the UN where there are officially 6 languages recognized)..... go figure.

Thank you for your input. Since my wife is from EU-17 nation holding a German passport, so there is no issues for me to obtain a work permit. Two main concerns are the location and no knowledge of German/French.
