Hello,

I am actually going through an interview process at the moment. My job will be situated in Delémont (Jura canton).

We are a family of 4 and live in France at the moment. We have not yet decided but we are planning to live either live in Delémont or in Neuchâtel depending on the cost of living.

I would like your help please. I am unable to find the cost of living in Switzerland. I know that it is more expensive than France

In your opinion, How much would be the cost of living for a family of 4. I have 2 daughters aged 7 and 12.

Say for example, My gross salary is 8000 CHF then what would be my net salary in Delémont and Neuchâtel approximatively.

Please kindly let me know as I will have to take a decision pretty soon if I accept the job offer.

Thanking you in Advance for your response

Bhaloc

Hi Bhaloc

The problem is allways which standard you currently have. For sure 8000 is not so bad, however the prices are also very high in Switzerland. For that reason my advice would be to compare on a salary calculator (like: http://www.lohncheck.ch ) if your salary is within the range. This helps may more then a general statement if this salary is enough... regards tobe

Zurich is cheap rather than Switzerland.

Dear Bhaloc,

I currently live and work in Canton Vaud, near Lake Geneva. I know that cost of living here is a bit higher than the Delémont/Neuchâtel region, but I don't think it is a huge difference. I would say that with a single income like you mentioned you can live comfortably, but not extravagantly.

Bear in mind things like quality of life, school opportunities, the cost of trips to visit family, etc. These should all have a impact on your decision.

Mike
