I am an American in Taiwan and have accepted a job teaching English. Will I be denied an ARC/work visa if I have Hep C? I have not had my health check yet and am worried. I never was asked this on any application nor was it an issue during my skype interview.

The last time I had to get a health check for a work permit/ARC was in 2013 (I've since gained permanent residency and so no more checks are required). Anyway, I'm looking at the report from 2013 right now.
The laboratory testing checks: A. HIV B. Syphilis C. Measles and Rubella antibodies D. Tuberculosis (chest x-ray)
Unless something has changed since then, it looks like you're in the clear.

Thanks for the info! I hope you are right and I won't get denied a visa. I am finally working and getting settled in taiwan and having to leave would be a disaster. I would appreciate hearing back from you if you happen to come across any more info on this subject. Thanks. MMargaret.

Hello Margaret, I have the current Health Check form, updated February of 2015 (Year 104 in Taiwan). The HIV test is no longer required, and no Hepatitis screening is done.
I can't attach a file, but I've uploaded the form to my Dropbox. The link to access it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i76pv6796str4ih/Health%20Check%20B%20.doc?dl=0
If you can't click that, let me know if there is another way I can send it to you.
Hope this eases your mind. Welcome to Taiwan!
