I lived in TZ for awhile and I met my boyfriend, a Tanzania native, and we recently had a baby. I returned to the US to have the baby, and now she is 5 months old. My family is extremely concerned about me bringing her to TZ to meet her father, but I'm so anxious to bring her. Has anyone else brought a baby/child to TZ? What are some of the risks and how did you minimize those risks? is it safe? worth the risk? please help!!!!!!

Hello Jenna,
I think you are the one who knows your baby father than anyone in your family. What you need is to keep contact with him and let him know what your plans are early.
Tanzanians are very generous people and I think the guy will love to see his baby.
The risk will be the baby father deciding that he wants to keep the baby, and I think you can minimize it by keeping contact with him and let him know how the baby is doing.
The other think is to inform the US embassy in Dar es Salaam know about your presence in case things go out of control.

I'm saying this because I'm from the same Tz. I took my daughter over there to see my family even though we left her mom back in the US. We just came back the end of August. I hope things will go perfect for you, there is nothing to worry about .
