" Hi there, I plan to bring my office equipment and my stereo system to Thailand. I understand the voltage overthere is 220. Is it easy to buy transformers to convert the voltage? Is it cheaper if I buy them from N. America and bring them over? Thanks for all your response. Emmanuelle "

" I would suggest strongly that you sell your stuff in the U.S. and buy new stuff in Thailand. Prices are reasonable and the hassle of voltage reducers, shipping the stuff, repairing it, the add''l costs, etc., etc. just isn''t worth it. I have office machines, here in HKG, that I''ve never used. Should have sold them years ago in the US. They are worthless now. The only exceptions are laptop computers which can travel easily and accept any voltage. "

I have a Gateway computer and it has a switch that changes the voltage input to 230 volts at 50Hz. Is this compatable and if so is the standard electrical service grounded and are there adapters available locally for U.S. plugs?
