" Aussie expats in Thailand are crying in their beers. No more Aussie football. No more Jam Music and nightly TV news from Down Under. At 8pm on Friday they pulled the plug on the Australia Television network, broadcast by satellite to Thailand, East Asia and Oceania. There was no announcement, no warning. The popular expat station just suddenly went off the air, with only a static slide saying the shut down was PERMANENT. And there is more bad news. Both the Radio Australia channels are facing imminent *satellite* shut down too -- according to their radio broadcast reports -- as they are using the same upfeed on the Palalpa satellite as Australia Television was. Kind of ironic isn''t it? Same day that Mir fell to earth. Hmmm. Little ""Honest"" John Howard''s got a lot to answer for. Oh, well. Will just have to start saving for a UBC subscription. Meantime, it''s back to Thailand''s TV soapies and game shows. LOL. Best wishes from Rick Armstrong http://www.ThailandTips.com Expat Resources For Carefree Living In Thailand "
