They don''t answer their email and the web site ""http://www.mekongriviera.com/nong_khai/nongkhai.htm"" has most of its links fouled up and not down loading. " Hi Mike, I don''t know what i''m doing, so you might have received 2 messages from me. Anyhow, my wife and I plan to retire in thailand in a very near future. According to the modern maturity magazine, from the AARP, Nong khai is #7 of the world''s best top 15 places for a home away from home. About your question, I''m sorry that I don''t have the answer for you because I was in bangkok once. Any input from your trip will be greatly appreciated Newton "

" Newton. Thanks for reply. Here are some great web sites re Thailand. ""expatBKK.com"" ""A Walk on the Wilde Side"" [author lives in BKK]. ""Stickmans Guide to Bangkok"" [absolutely the best newsletter online]. ""Thailand-Mekong"" [re Nong Khai]. The Best guide book to the country is the lonely planet publication ""Thailand'' by cummings and martin, 9th edition published August this year. I started using their guides in the mid ""70,s"" and they helped me through 40 countries in fifteen years. Its not cheap [$25.00] but it will save the cost the first time you use for Travel!! The best source of info re Living in Thailand is Stickmans Guide [he lives there also]. Ileave Oct. 30 out of LAX on Cathay Pacific to HK & BKK. Michael "
