Hi,
I would not get my hopes up based on the information you provided. PR jobs for foreigners are pretty near near non-existent, unless you happen to be a well-known PR guru. Without knowing your age or education and experience, the main possibilities are teaching English or going to school at the Bachelor's level at a minimum.Another option is to start a company here. There are strict laws on the types of work that foreigners can do, and unless you can latch on to a company in your home country that will send you here, or coming over here are getting lucky, or you have special skills that are in demand here, finding work here is not easy. You might want to search the International job sites like Monster.com, etc.

I agree with the previous response that is you want to teach, jobs are available. Thailand is very restrictive on the job front. If it is job a Thai can do, then you are out of luck. What I did was get a contract from the U.S. that allows me to work over the internet. I also have a couple of websites. On these websites, I do per diem work for others who need articles written and editing. You sort of piece it together. I do have a friend from the US who has been here for 10 years and he seems to find jobs, but I think he sells himslef short, just to get his work permit to stay. Noodles 3 times a day get a bit tired after awhile. If you want to teach for awhile, it may give you a chance to network here and that can help in looking for something in your choosen field.

editguy, Good points. One of the biggest hurdles is getting a visa that allows one to get a work permit. Age and qualifications are important in this regard, but no age was provided by 510guy. If interested in teaching one should check out www.ajarn.com. If interested in going to school here, I can provide more info. f 510 guy is a veteran I can give him some additional tips.
There is a list of restricted occupations that I can point him to if he is interested. Working the web might be a way to do it, but if 510guy wants to stay a while, he needs a non-imm visa, not a tourist visa, unless he wants to make the visa runs.

Here is a thought. While you are still in your home country, go to the website for "Siam Legal". You can apply for a one year "B" visa. The "B" visa will allow you to stay here for one year, but you will need to do a visa run for a stamp every 3 months (nothing is easy). During that time you will be able to look for work and if you get a job convert your "B" visa. This is a great way for other guys too, who don't know if they want to retire or try to find work(for the guys 50 and over). It does cost $495 USD plus the cost of a multiple entry visa. "Siam Legal" will sponsor you as a potential investor. The catch is that you must convert the visa to something else, otherwise you must go through the whole process again in your home country. At least this gives you a year (if you play it right 15 months) to secure something more permanent. I went that route and it has worked just fine for me. By all menas do it the legal way, otherwise you may put yourself in a position of being barred from the country.

Just a word of advice, if you are going to teach you will need to have formal teaching qualifications. Cheers

I agree with Tony 100%! If you want to get a good teaching job in Thailand now, you really need a certificate or sometimes just a teaching degree with experience. Remember to bring your degree copy (may want to see the original) or if certificate. They don't go much for copies!!!! This will help a great deal. They may even want a transcript, but that may be for the very top tier of International Schools. Good luck!
