Looking to early retire in Thailand.
We come from many years in the boating industry and are considering opening up a water taxi service, charter sunset cruise, and/or fishing boats for tourists along with a boat repair shop. My husband is 60 I am 55. Not looking for the sin city life. Home life we want close to beach and private for business the best opportunity for tourism. Your thoughts please.
Also can one move their weapons with them when we move?
What are laws in bringing your pets with you?

I would SO recommend you seek retirement life elsewhere. Even though it's low season, things are HORRIBLE here. My friends and I were driving around Jomtien Friday night at 9:00 p.m. and it was a GHOST town. Another friend of mine said the same about Pattaya. These are two highly sought tourist destinations. As well, the business trap is dismal. I have a scuba instructor friend who was jailed just for cleaning his own personal gear because "he didn't have a work permit for that." If you have income to satisfy the visa requirements then it can be a very nice place to spend your golden years, but keep in mind the beaches are filthy. Nice to watch from your condo balcony but to swim in the sea? Forget about it.

And as for the other post, two thumbs up for ThaiVisa.com

I brought my kitty to Thailand. Look on the Internet for information. I had to prove recent vaccinations and have a chip inserted. You must make sure there are no stops in any other Country. There are flights directly from California.

The Government reserves certain businesses for Thais. You must check to see if you can operate the business you want. You must employ a certain number of Thais. Your Company must be Thai. A lawyer can do that for you.

I would suggest Pattaya. It is sin City but I live 12 km outside the City. There are 26 houses. Most are farang guys married to Thai ladies. Farang means US or European. Pattaya gets 1,000,000 tourist a month. The surrounding area speaks English. The supermarkets have Western food. I live in NaJomtien. It is quiet.
In the City motorbikes operate all night. My house is about a 5 minute walk to the beach.
