Roel Stafleu is missing in Thailand since may 2015. Initially, we feared a terrible accident had happened. At this time however, we have reasons to believe Roel might be alive and staying near Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothon or Bangkok. Did you see hem? Please contact me!

I see at https://thailand4ever.com/ that you are not sure he wants to be found. Have you checked with his Embassy? The embassy can check with local law enforcement to see if they have any information.

The Royal Netherlands Embassy has a section on what to do in a case like this http://thailand.nlembassy.org/shared/products-and-services/when-things-go-wrong-abroad/what-to-do-if-someone-goes-missing-abroad.html
For social media posting, you might want to cite a location where a photo can be found and provide as many details as possible, like the names of any known friends in Thailand or else that anything might assist people in remembering him. For example, what was he doing in Thailand? If he was here for work, who was he working for? If unknown, what is his profession or expertise?
Something about his habits might also be useful, For example if he drinks beer what brand does he prefer? Does he smoke? etc.
You might also want to post information about him on the ThaiVisa.com forum, which has many members who are expats in Thailand. I found a photo, and will post it on my FB page. Of course if he doesn't want to be found he might not be happy about the search, but that is your decision.

Thanks for your response. I didn't see the page of the Thailand Embassy up to know, but I did get most of the tips already from the side of Slachtofferhulp. We did also get help from them.

Does Roel withdraw money with a credit or debit card? You might be able to trace him like that...Was it his first visit to TH? G/f, man friend in TH? When does his passport expire ? What type of visa does he have? You may be able to trace him with immigration, because he must have done at least one visa extension, visa run, or gone to a neighbouring country for a new visa? (He needs to supply a stay address) Put photo ads in Samui, Khon Kaen, Udon, Pattaya, Bangkok, Phuket gazette etc. someone must have seen him. Check Dutch restaurants, for he may have caved in to his craving for Dutch delicacies.

Thanks for your response. Roel's creditcard is used in Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothon and Bangkok. That's why we think he might be there. But it's already some time ago so he can be somewhere else too. The restaurants I didn't try yet. Do you have suggestions how to reach them?

After a year of uncertainty, and lots of research, we now know for sure that Roel is still alive. He decided to start a new life in Thailand. We know now where he resides. Unfortunately we have no contact so why and why in this way remains incomprehensible. Anyone who has helped us thanks very much.

Obviously he wants to be left alone. My advice is to respect his wishes. It's not like he doesn't know anyone is looking for him.

Thank you very much for the offer. But at this moment it's not necessary.
