Ed Visa Renewal Challenge at Savannakhet Border

Recently invested 20,000 Baht for my fiancee to attend her second year of Thai language lessons at TLC in Hua Hin. She being from the Philippines needs to renew yearly by exiting the border at Savannakhet. She returned this morning a day early from her grueling 15-16 hour bus ride without her visa being renewed. The female immigration officer purportedly was condescending, demeaning and humiliated Jean. She demanded she speak fluent Thai and insinuated she was working and only using the ED visa as a vehicle to stay here. What about the ASEAN Alliance? If she spoke fluent Thai why would she need the schooling? Jean is a diligent student and studies when at home while attending 2x per week at TLC. I have attempted to send this same missive to TLC but their website appears to be a challenge also. TLC apparently did not coach and consult with her properly prior to the trip.
Jean is visibly hurting and very emotional and tired with a complete wasted 2 days. I am livid and will post this on thaivisa.com also. If you have a similar situation ask your school how they prepare you for this trip!

My PH wife experienced similar treatment. We are sick of HH and Thailand. We're spending this year in Nha Trang, VN and couldn't be happier. Clean. Same price for everyone. No degrading immigration situations. No more trips to that sweaty little HH immigration office for shakedowns. Visa is $145 yr with Pnom Pen turnarounds every 3 months. You can easily get the Teaching visa.
What a relief.
VN is clean and 2/3 the cost of TH. Beaches are good, no animal droppings and drunk Thai's to avoid.
PH and US are welcome here. ASEAN is honored. There is petty theft of phones so watch that. Overall it's much better in Nha Trang than in HH.
Good luck.

Can you teach with only a two-year degree in VN? I can easily in Thailand, but it IS illegal. While not a huge concern, I'd be happier if I was 100% above-board.
