" Hi Russell, I am an American working in the Netherlands. I don''t know many official things, but I DO know that employees have A LOT of rights in this country. However, your level of rights depends on your contract. If you had a temporary contract (usually offered in 6 month units--no more than two consecutive allowed, after that they have to give you a permanent contract or ask you to go) you don''t have a lot of rights, but you should still receive owed wages. If you had a permanent contract, you''re even better off. If your company is big enough, you should have an OR which is a group of nominated employees who represent the other employees to the management team. Go to them, or to the HR people, if you have them. They are required to deal with your problem. In any case, if you were legally working and this company owes you money, you should get it. There is a council for everything in Holland. I don''t know who you need to speak to, but I''m pretty positive you have rights. I would recommend getting in touch with a Rechtswinkel (sp?) which is basically a place that gives free legal advice. They generally handle rental problems, but they can probably tell you what your rights are and who to go to to get more help... there should be one of these places in the city where you live. Go to your local Stadhuis if you can''t locate it yourself. Hope my info helps, as sketchy as it may be! :) Mehera "
