USA->Neth Marriage Procedures?

I am having a hard time finding information on what I need to do in order to marry my Dutch boyfriend and move to The Netherlands. I have searched online and only can find partial information, including the IND site, which gives me a vague-ish notion of what I need to do. I live in Vermont USA, but I am currently in Eindhoven NL until April 6, visiting my man. We have been in a relationship for 5 years and we want to be married and we don't want any more of this long-distance relationship! If anyone can help us with information on what we need to do, or any good resources, that would be very very helpful! First-hand information from a American+Dutch marriage would be particularly useful.
Thanx! =^..^=

hello Rubykitten. I am not from the USA, I am from Canada married to a dutchman. If you go to the Gementee in the community where you are in Nederland they can give you a list of the appropriate documents you will require to get married here in the Netherlands. These documents simply prove that you are not married to someone else. Once you are married, then you can easily apply for a verblijfsdocument at the politie bureau... although getting married is not a requirement to live here. You can also make application even if you aren't married. The most accurate information will come from the Politie Bureau.

Hi,

I'm American and married my Dutch husband in 1988. I'm sure the rules have changed since then, but all we did was go to cityhall in the town where my husband lived. If you've ever been married before, you will need a copy of your divorce papers.

American citizens are not required to go through the imigrating process that some foreigners have to do.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Bonnie
