Im thinking of doing the expat thing out there and hope someone can advise me on local discount centers (Ive heard that bargains can be had). Im interested in computer hardware, furniture (chairs, tables), general living stuff (cutlery, plates etc), general electrical appliances (I hear that cookers, water tanks and other such stuff isnt always included in unfurnished digs). If anyone can offer advice on likely prices, this would also be of great help.

You can find, in many neighbourhoods, a Kringloop.
The Kringloop is a great second hand store where you can find almost anything... cheap. Just ask anybody, they probably can tell you where the nearest one to you is.
