Dutch tax on US money?

Hi, I have lived here in the Netherlands for over ten years and receive a US pension. My investments as well are in the US. I, or course, pay US taxes on my US money.

I am in the middle of a problem with the Dutch tax people. They think I have to pay a 'premie' on the volksverzekering for the Dutch 'social security'. I know I can not be taxed twice on the same money and was wondering if any other US citizens living here have encountered this problem. I had the same problem back a few years and that was resolved.

I think this particular tax person thinks there's a difference between 'belasting' and premie. Any thoughts?

Sorry I can't help you with your question. However, I am new to the forum and consideation of moving -- i.e. retiring -- to the Netherlands. Like you, I will be receiving a US pension. Any advice you or anyone similarly experienced can share would be most appreciated. Right now, I know nothing and am just starting to investigate what is involved. I expect to retire by the end of 2005 and move to the Netherlands shortly thereafter. I've been to the country many times and love it and the people -- don't know Dutch though (but plan to learn the rudiments). Thanks to all who may reply. Also, my email is: waynetaylor@mailsnare.net
