There are not restrictions on bringing dogs into the Netherlands however, it can be quite costly if you are coming from the States...even moreso if you are coming from any other country. The Dutch put high taxes and tarrifs on many things that others may see as a norm. The dog may be as expensive as having a baby!

There are restrictions. Your dog must be micro-chipped and must have had a rabies shot at least 30 days prior to entering. You will have to pay for council registration of you dog in the area you reside. I have two dogs and I think they charged me about 45 euro for the year. I had this same charge back in Australia for my council so it was no different. Other than that, there are no extra fees, taxes or charges, just normal dog maintenance. i will say however that the Vets here are extremely good and no where near as expensive as AU. I took my husky in to get an eye infection checked out and walked out with my husky having a shot of mediacatino as well as a bottle of drops for two weeks all at the cost of 25 euro. This is at one of the nest Vets. That would have cost me four times as much at home.
