A Canadian moving to the Netherlands

Hi everyone,
I am a Canadian (from Montreal) currently completing my MA degree at UvA, in Amsterdam.
My boyfriend is EU citizen, however, he is a student, too and is not employed here (he is Sovenian). Wonder what are our options of staying in Amsterdam...any tips?

Hi Alimdar,

Since your boyfriend is an EU citizen he is allowed to work within all EU countries including the Netherlands. For you things are a bit harder, the simplest option is to get married and get a pasport of a European country.

Other options are to get a work and travel visum so that you can stay for another year, or you can try and find a job with a company willing to arrange for a work and residence permit.

You could also search online for topics on immigrating to the Netherlands, there you might find information on requirements for moving to the Netherlands.
