Although discrimination based on the age factor is prohibited in the whole EU (by Treaty provisions and Directives - that is to say that asking for one's date of birth or age is not accepted), one might face various forms of it, especially if not speaking the language and not in possession of a higher degree, or relevant professional experience in a profession which is in shortage on the Dutch employment market. One alternative would consist in securing a job with one of the multinational firms operating in the major Dutch cities, or starting own business. In any of the above, non-EU citizens must comply and satisfy a number of perequisites, most of them mandatory requirements (such as sufficient funds to support yourself, proper accommodation, basic health insurance, valid and recognised documents in what regards education, qualification, etc).
More info on this you could find on the IND (Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation) in English: http://www.ind.nl/EN/index.asp Good luck!
