I am hoping to meet other English speaking Mom's / women in Boekel area. (Gemert,Uden, Eindhoven etc)
Kids here are ages 5 & 10. (our oldest 4 stayed in the USA ages 16, 20. 20 & 21)
This has been such a difficult several months. My husband works in
Norway on a temp contract. He is away for 2+ weeks at a time and then home for 5 days - 7 days.
He is Dutch but never talked Dutch to us or taught the children.
So to the say the least, we are struggling and desperately lonely. :(

Hi- ?
That is slightly reminiscent to my past situation. I was stupid and left so I could be close to my older children I have three older 29,25 and 22. But when I returned They were even more distant and cold than my Dutch partners family!
At 29 and 25 well lets just say I did my parenting with them...they need to learn some life lessons now without me. I'm not so certain I feel that way about the younger one whom is 22 but I know this,It was a difficult choice I had to make and it turned out to be the wrong choice...Its never worked back here for the three of us I can't get myself together.and my children were treated as outcasts by the schools I have enrolled them in and that was horrible my son now has an IEP and now he just does not have any power inside him...thats how much he wants to return...so The best thing to do is probably attend classes to learn Dutch Go to access (there is even a TV channel there now for expats with the same name? I think) and that is the first step...my partner refused to speak to me in Dutch or help and thats CRUELTY.If he really loved you ...he would teach you himself on the side ) he spoke Dutch to my children only- talk about feeling like an island. My childrens school there offered to help us stay...that is also a route for you the school there children was in was a Dutch school and now they offer Dutch lessons for free! so go to the schools in the area and possibly you CAN get help make that first step and it will just get better I'm certain Hang in there.

It has been hard. The school here has been no help at all. They treat us as an outcast and it makes it even harder.

Hi : (

Sorry to hear this. Would you consider moving to Den Haag? The School unless it changed but I doubt it is named " THe Anne Frank School" on Beresteinlaan in Den Haag...the teachers there are great! classrooms were small and it has a melting pot of diversity there. Please consider? of course renting is another prob expat rentals has a lot of apartments. I am so sorry...Give it some thought...or return like we did.
